My Dear Book Dragons,

As I sit writing this post, I have only two chapters left to write for my next manuscript, The Book Dragon! Creating this story has reminded me why I love writing. I love telling stories. I have enjoyed the creative process of each twist and turn. March will be the first couple rounds of edits before I present it to Beta readers. I will talk more about my Beta readers later. I am super excited about this step coming up because I get to meet with a really cool group of middle grade book dragons. This is one of my favorite parts of this whole process! Until then I still have work to do on my current manuscript.

I am hoping that the final week of February will be spent editing The Kingdom of the Littles. Then I will officially be jumping into the query trenches. I will be honest I am a bit discouraged at how long the editing process has taken for this manuscript. However, your encouragement and love has given me the will to keep pressing forward. I truly cannot wait to share Leland, Willow and the Givens children with you all. Their adventure has morphed into an exciting story full of triumph, failure and hope. I am a sucker for a good found family story and this story certainly has that trope as well. It is a middle grade story but I believe it is one that many generations can share and enjoy.

While spending a week on their grandparent's farm, 9 year old Andy and 13 year old Eva have one rule that they must follow; don't go over the fence. But after discovering Leland and Willow, two tiny people that fit in the palm of the children's hands, their eyes are opened to the Veiled Realm. When a fairy baby is abandoned in Willow's garden, the children must decide to obey their grandparents rules or disobey and be thrust into a battle of good and evil.

The Kingdom of the Littles was inspired by stories I created when I was a child to cope with my terrifying reality. I wrote them down for my own little book dragons as bed time stories. Now, I hope this story brings light to the darkness for many of my book dragons.

Please, keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I enter the query trenches again with a newly revised manuscripts. Thank you for coming with me on this journey.

Love your momma book dragon,

Laureli
